The process of developing pipeline CAD drawings consists of several stages, including a breakdown into individual elements and assemblies. This takes into account the possibility of delivery from the production site to the installation site.

KMD drawings are a set of technological documentation for a pipeline. They contain all the necessary information for installation work. According to DBN, a set of KMD drawings for process pipelines includes the following documents

the General Data heading, which contains a list of tables and sheet structures, a list of regulatory documents, and a description of general project data;

explanatory note to the set of KMD drawings;

assembly diagrams, which are the set of KMD drawings;

specification of products and materials.

The heading “General data” consists of:

data containing information on the number of working drawings of the main set;

conventional symbols that are not established by standards;

description of special requirements for production and installation schemes of various elements and components of pipelines.

KMD drawings are developed individually for each pipeline line. They usually contain information about the installation scheme, which describes the general view of this pipeline. This is done in an axonometric oblique frontal isometric projection, with no scale taken into account.

Other important components of the KMD drawings for individual pipeline lines may include: product and material specifications, a table with line operating parameters, which include such indicators as temperature and operating pressure.

The set of drawings is also supplemented by:

a document describing the type and dimensions of the test pressure;

a table that shows the markings of welding joints.

A mandatory component is the text part. It contains the designation of the drawings of the original documentation. It also contains information about the number of nodes that make up the line. As a rule, it also indicates the specific conditions that should be followed in the manufacture of lines and testing.

Methods of developing KMD drawings for process pipelines

There are two methods that can be used to develop process pipeline CAD drawings. The first method involves splitting the line into separate elements. After the breakdown, they are combined into a specification in the form of a table and encrypted.

The second method is performed with the establishment of chains of sizes of flanges, fittings, pipeline parts and other components. In this case, the specification includes a list of flanges with their lengths.

In this case, the assembly diagram of the detailed pipeline drawings includes: overall dimensions, installation locations of valves and pipeline fasteners, automation and control equipment.

The diagram must also indicate the dimensions that coordinate the tie-in points and elevations.

Other important components of the schemes include information on:

reference to the axes of building structures;

locations of pipeline passages in the building structure system;

position numbers of assembly units and elements with their boundaries;

The diagram must contain information on the numbers of lines and positions of devices to which the line is connected, as well as a table of welding joints.

The availability of such a system for designing pipeline PDM drawings allows to completely eliminate the additional development of sketches of elements.

Specifications to the diagrams should contain ciphers of pipeline elements, which consist of its dimensions and ciphers of parts.

Most often, pipeline CAD drawings are developed taking into account dimensional chains. In this case, the assembly diagram, in addition to the drawings, is supplemented with information on the dimensions of flanges, parts and fittings. The boundaries of elements and assemblies are also indicated. The location of flanges, parts and fittings in accordance with the specification must be indicated.
